1885 penny postal card bearing a message regarding a law case. GW Corey sent this card from his home on Fulton Street in Brooklyn to the office of CC Prentiss in Manhattan at 57 Broadway.
Early NYC postal cards were often delivered same-day or before noon the next day. The card shows that Corey visited Prentiss at his office, read the New York Herald on the way home, saw in the paper that "Case 858" was on for the day, and scribbled a note to Prentiss as soon as he arrived home. This card contains a lovely little story about a typical day in Gilded Age NYC.
